TechLife Zone Rules and Privacy Policy

To maintain a peaceful and enjoyable community, we have written some rules that all members must comply to. This ensures that everyone can enjoy to be here; both members and staff.

By registering and posting on this website (both the Portal and the Forums), you agree with the rules below:

  1. Warez, MP3's and copyright violation: Do not upload files or link to websites that host illegal content, also known as Warez. It violates copyright, and is equal to theft. It's also not allowed to discuss how to obtain this material, or how to disable any copy protection.

  2. Pornography and 18+ material: This website is visited by people of all ages, including children. Because of that, we don't allow any material that is unsuitable for people below the age of 18. As an addition, we certainly don't allow Child Pornography. Failure to comply with that last item will result in a permanent ban from the entire website.

  3. Racism and personal attacks: It is not allowed to make any hateful comments to anyone, not by text or by posting hateful images. If you need to vent about something, you can do that in the Speaker's Corner on the forums. Do mind that personal attacks against other members is certainly out of the question. It's also not allowed to swear. If you do need to swear, then think of Rule #2 and cover your words.

  4. Advertising and Spamming: It's not allowed to advertise your products or website here without permission. To advertise here, you should contact RHochstenbach. If your first message contains links, they will be checked. If it contains spam, you'll get a permanent ban from the website.

  5. This is an English website: Write everything in English. You certainly don't have to use perfect grammar, but make sure that others can understand you. So don't use slang language like some chat room in Warcraft.

  6. Not everyone is an expert: The skill level on these boards vary from experts to people who never used a computer before. If someone doesn't understand an explanation, then use an easier explanation. Don't ever make any hateful comments to someone for their lack of skills.

  7. Signatures and Avatars: To prevent spam, you can't create your own signature if your post count is below 50. A custom avatar can only be uploaded if your post count is 50 or more. Before that time, you can choose an avatar from our gallery. If you made your 50th post, please allow up to 24 hours to update your permissions.

  8. Respect each others decisions: Everyone decides what products to use. These can be either Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, but also gaming products like the Xbox and the Playstation. You should respect that decision. Therefore we don't like any of the familiar Mac vs. PC or Xbox vs. Playstation discussions. These cause flame wars and are therefore NOT allowed.

  9. Always follow the Staff Member's instructions: The staff of TechLife Zone are not getting paid for their work. They are responsible for keeping everything running. So if a staff member instructs you to do something, we expect you to do so without an argument.

  10. Help the community: By getting support for a problem, you're also helping other people with a similar problem. They can read your conversation and all replies. Therefore we have a policy for this matter:

    - If you find the solution by yourself, please tell us what you actually did to solve the problem. don't just say "I fixed it. Goodbye".
    - don't ask to get the solution sent to you by E-Mail. All conversations are posted on the forums. For a private conversation, you could always use our Private Messaging function.

  11. Use the Search function: Before creating a new thread, use the search function to see if a similar thread as already been opened. This prevents duplicate threads.

  12. Post in the correct section and only once: Create your threads in the correct section. If you put it in the wrong section by mistake (when a subject could fit in multiple categories), we'll gladly move it for you. But if you're deliberately putting everything in the wrong categories, we have to take further actions. Also, only create your threads and posts once. Duplicate threads are creating multiple conversations, and are therefore difficult to manage. It also won't speed up the process of getting anwers. As a matter of fact, it could get you banned from the forums when doing this often.

Privacy Policy

We (TechLife Zone) reserve the right to edit and remove threads and posts without notifying the author about this. As an addition, we may prevent access to both the Homepage and the Forums, a so called 'ban', to any member who violates the rules.

We won't share any information that we have about a member, unless this is ordered by the court. This includes IP addresses and Personal Messages.

The penalty for violating the rules can be different, depending how seriousness of the violation. It can vary from a warning, to a ban of a short time, but also a permanent ban.

We reserve the right to perform preventive banning of users who are on a spammers blacklist. If you're having trouble with registering, please use the Contact Us button at the bottom of the screen.

TechLife Zone is a member of an alliance between boards that share information about banned users. If you're a spammer or cause a serious incident, it's very likely you'll also be rejected from other boards.

If you agree with the rules, we wish you a nice stay at TechLife Zone!
